1- Government Scholarships through the Swedish Institute
The government of Sweden, through the Swedish Institute for Global Professionals (SISGP) or simply the Swedish Institute, offers numerous fully-funded scholarships for Master’s level studies. Additionally, they are only for students from selected countries on the DAC list.
Besides, it provides a unique opportunity for global leaders to develop professionally and academically, as well as exchange experiences and build long-lasting relationships with various cultures of the Swedish society.
Moreover, it covers tuition fees (directly paid by the Swedish Institute to the university), living costs 10000 ESK per month, plane tickets and insurance.

Scholarship conditions
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience in your field or volunteering work, especially community services.
- Being a citizen in one of the selected countries on the DAC list.
- You did not reside in Sweden for more than 2 years, prior to the date of the scholarship.
- Not being enrolled in any other scholarships in Sweden.
- Not having the Swedish citizenship and neither studied in Sweden nor gained any degree from it.
How to apply for the Swedish Institute scholarships?
You can apply for a scholarship from the Swedish Institute through two main steps:
- Firstly, to fill the application on the Swedish Institute’s website.
- Secondly, to pay the application fees.
2- Scholarships granted by a Swedish university
Swedish universities provide scholarships for students from outside EU countries.

Scholarships from Uppsala University
Uppsala University offers 2 types of scholarship programs: one for prospective students and another one for current students. The scholarship for prospective students covers the full tuition fee every year, but does not include the student’s living expenses in Sweden.
It is granted to international students enrolled in a master’s degree program at the university. Moreover, the scholarships for current students and researchers offers them the opportunity to apply each semester at Uppsala.

Lund University scholarships
This institution has a partnership with the Swedish Institute to offer scholarships to students. Moreover, Lund University has other scholarship programs for international students from countries outside the EU/EEA.
The scholarships focus on academic excellence and covers the student’s tuition fees. These scholarships are program-specific and include:

Targeting international students from outside the EU/EEA, Umeå University offers each year 8 full tuition scholarships along with an allowance of SEK 3,000 per month. These scholarships are offered to highly-qualified students in the field of public health, and are sponsored by a donation from the Erling-Persson Family Foundation.

Karolinska Institute scholarships
Tuition fee-paying students enrolled in a master’s degree program at Karolinska Institute have the opportunity to apply each Autumn semester for a scholarship. This is the Karolinska Institute Global Master’s Scholarship, offered to 10 students per year.
The scholarship covers the student’s tuition fee or part of it, and only first year students are eligible to apply. However, the competition for this program is very fierce, since 1500 students are applying for this scholarship every year.
Another program for a master’s degree is the KI-DIS Fellowship. It is also a merit-based scholarship offering to cover 2 semesters tuition fees to students enrolled in a one-year master’s program.
