Basic Requirements to Get a Student Visa for Argentina

  1. A valid passport, including the Argentine tourist visa stamp. The passport should be valid for up to six months after your expected study completion date. You have also to submit a photocopy of every page of your passport.
  2. Two 4×4 photos on a white background
  3. Proof of your university enrollment from the university in Argentina
  4. A police certificate indicating that you have no criminal record in Argentina. You can obtain this from a local police station.
  5. Payment of the student visa fees. This is payable in cash only.

Other Documents

You may need to submit other documents, depending on your nationality, place of study, and the expected length of your stay, such as:

  1. Certified copies of your birth certificate
  2. Proof of owning sufficient funds to cover your expenses in Argentina
  3. Evidence of sufficient knowledge of Spanish
  4. Certificate of good conduct and behavior. You can obtain this from the police in the country you live in. This certificate should be apostilled, officially translated, and legalized by a certified translator of the Colegio de Traductores Públicos de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
  5. Scan and multiple copies of your passport or identity cards, and additional passport photos

How to apply for a Student Visa for Argentina?

Applications and documents have to be submitted directly at the visa appointment. The visa department conducts visa appointments on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 to 12:30 a.m. The consulate close in the Argentinian and American holidays. It encourages the applicants to submit applications at least 30 days before the date of their proposed trip, and not to make any irreversible travel plans before the issuance of the visa.

How to Get Argentinian Student Visa

Less than 90 days: for the students who are engaged in unofficial studies, student exchange programs, and scholarships for less than 90 days, they will enter and stay in the country as tourists (tourist visa).

More than 90 days: for the students who are engaged in unofficial studies, student exchange programs, and scholarships for more than 90 days. The students who are engaged in cultural exchange programs or internships (regardless of their duration) have to submit the following:

  1. Entry Permit (PIM)
  2. Passport
  3. Form FSV
  4. Two (2) current photos
  5. Proof of immigration status
  6. Police records (16 years or older)
  7. Sworn statement
  8. Travel authorization
  9. Proof of funds
  10. Fees

Entry Permit (PIM): you have to request this from the educational institution. As soon as Direccion Nacional de Migraciones (DNM) issues the permit, you should submit the applications at the Consulate office stated in the permit. The visa will not be processed if the entry permit was not issued. The applicant has to submit the following documents (the original and a copy) at the consulate office:

Passport/Travel Document: submit the original and a copy of the first page. The passport or travel document must be valid for a minimum of six (6) months from the intended date of entry and have at least two (2) blank pages.

How long does it take to get a student visa for Argentina?

The regular visa process takes 7-10 working days. In some cases, it will require 30-45 days. You will be notified in such cases. 

There is an expedited visa process that takes up to three working days and requires the payment of an extra fee. You may be qualified for the expedited visa service, depending on availability. The expedited fee does not apply in the case of the visas that require a processing time of 30-45 days.

How much does a student visa for Argentina cost?

To apply for a student visa, you have to pay a US $150 fee directly to the consulate or embassy of Argentina in your home country. Some consulates may expedite the processing of your visa, for an extra US $40. These costs may change due to inflation, so make sure to inquire for this fee when preparing your documents for a student visa application.
