Danish government scholarships for highly qualified students

Universities of higher education offer a limited number of government scholarships every year. To get these scholarships, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • You must be from a Non-EU country.
  • Registered in a full program at a university in Denmark.
  • You must be a holder of a temporary student visa.

Moreover, only applicants who are eligible to pay tuition fees can earn the scholarship. This is a fully funded scholarship to cover the student’s tuition fee along with a stipend of DKK 6090 per month to help cover their living cost in Denmark.

Furthermore, candidates coming to Denmark to pursue programs in English must provide a IELTS of 6.5 minimum or a TOEFL score with a minimum of 575/230/88. And for exchange or guest students, the scholarship is granted only for master level education, which is the equivalent of 180 ECTS credits completed.

The Danish State Educational Support (SU)

Another type of funding to study in Denmark for international students is the Support from the Danish Education Support Agency. The Danish State Educational Support or SU generally applies to Danish residents only. However, international students who apply for equal status may earn this funding upon fulfilling conditions set by the Danish Rules or the EU Law. There are several rules to comply in order to earn equal status with Danish citizens and benefit from the SU as a foreign citizen.

Fully funded doctorate scholarship in Denmark at Copenhagen University

Copenhagen University offers a limited number of scholarships for PhD students in specialties such as history of engineering and history of thought. If you want to apply for this scholarship, you need to have a Master’s degree in a specialty relating to history or engineering. The deadline for applying for this scholarship is the first of December. Furthermore, you can apply for the scholarship through the official university website.

Aarhus University scholarships

Aarhus University offers a limited number of government-funded scholarships for distinguished students. This is a two year-long Masters level scholarship that covers tuition fees. You can also get a monthly scholarship for a maximum of 23 months, which is the duration of a Master’s degree. Furthermore, as soon as you register for a Masters program at the university, you’re automatically registered for a scholarship. However, the latter is limited and is only given to distinguished students.

University College of Northern Denmark scholarships

Every year, the University College of Northern Denmark offers government-funded scholarships to international students that are enrolled at the university. Additionally, this university covers only 30% to 50% of tuition fees. You will have to pay the remaining amount.

To get this scholarship, you need to apply for an English taught program. You also need to send in an application form to University College of Northern Denmark as well as a statement of purpose. Furthermore, registration for the scholarship is from the start of February to mid-March for semesters starting in September and the first of October to the first of December for semesters starting in February.

Technical University of Denmark scholarships

The Technical University of Denmark offers scholarships in the form of a salary to several of its students and researchers.
