Structure of Masters study in Denmark

Master’s in Denmark is called Candidatus, and the title of a master’s degree then becomes Cand. (short for Candidatus) followed by the studied discipline’s name. In general, a master’s program in Denmark consists of an advanced, research-based curriculum that takes up to 2 years to complete. 

The program includes mandatory courses, elective courses as well as thematic courses. These masters programs in Denmark are set to meet the needs of a knowledge-based, globalized society. This makes the newly graduates fully ready to enter the job market or pursue further studies in Denmark or elsewhere. 

When enrolled in a master’s degree program in a Danish university, students usually have the choice between a general track and a specialization. They undertake lectures, seminars, practical and theoretical exercises as well as project work. 

At the end of their study, students produce a master’s thesis based on a large project that took them six to nine months of work. Some universities allow students to produce their thesis independently or as part of a group.
